About - National Cavy Club

The National Cavy Club

The National Cavy Club (NCC) was first established in 1889, and since that time it has provided an umbrella organisation for cavy (guinea pig) fanciers throughout the United Kingdom.

The NCC set the first breed standards (for the Smooth, the Peruvian and the Abyssinian). The role of overseeing breed standards was passed to the British Cavy Council in 1977. On the British Cavy Council website, you can find links to the various breed standards, articles about specific breeds, and details of the various breed clubs. The British Cavy Council also oversees the allocation of stud prefixs.
